Passion is a necessary ingredient?
The following question is always asked when creating a website: Should I Create a Website About What I Love? It’s not an easy question to answer. It all depends on what passion you have.
If you are passionate about underwater basket weaving, then there isn’t likely to be enough people selling your products. (I could be wrong). If you are passionate about dogs and enjoy buying the most expensive pet accessories, you may be able to find a niche.
Consider a niche that you would be happy to write about long-term. It’s easy to get passionate about something when it brings in money month after month.

How to choose the right niche
Before you start building your website, you need to choose a niche. It won’t do any good to create a site that reviews every Amazon product. You will need to narrow your market and choose the products that you want to sell to make your site a success.
Two things are required for an Amazon affiliate website to work:
1. Solid targeted traffic
Your affiliate website will receive most of its traffic from product-related searches and product reviews.
These will typically be longer-tail keywords such as “Blendtec 5300 vs Vitamix 570”, or “greenworks mowers vs black and white”. These keywords will bring in targeted traffic because the searcher is looking to buy something.
These searches indicate that the individual is only looking for information to help them make an informed purchase decision.
Avoid keywords such as “how to build treehouse” or “homemade coffeepot”. These keywords are more informative and will not translate into sales. We do however show you how to incorporate these keywords into your overall content strategy.
You will need to get traffic to make your site a success. This depends on the product you are selling and how often visitors convert to buyers. Sometimes you don’t need to drive a lot of traffic to make a site profitable.
2. Promoting a high-priced series of products
It’s crucial to select products with a high price range if you plan to primarily promote Amazon products. It’s difficult to make a steady income by promoting products between $1-5, because Amazon commissions are so low.
You can make more money selling items with a higher price tag, such as furniture, appliances, bikes, blenders and juicers or BBQs.
Don’t be discouraged if you don’t find the right product series for you. If the product volume is sufficient, you can still make decent money by promoting lower-end products. Below is an example that promotes only books on Amazon, but still earns good commissions.
Amazon cookies are active for 24 hours. You’ll get an affiliate commission on any products you buy during this time.
How to verify your website niche
It would be a shame to pick a niche and then find out that there isn’t enough traffic or the competition is too strong.
We have highlighted a repeatable process which will allow you to determine the market’s competition and analyze the traffic to your niche.
1. Keyword Research
Google is the best tool to help you narrow down your niches. You should have some niche ideas already.
Google Search for Seed Keywords
Go to Google and enter your keyword niche. We’ll use high-end grills and barbecues as an example.
Many people find the Amazon Associates model appealing and approaching to develop result-driven Amazon Affiliate Website. You can do freelancing services on niche websites, blogs and more.
We’ll first type “high end grills amazon” into the search box. This will bring up a list of products that we could review and promote.
Weber Summit 7170001 Grill is the second standout product.
The product is expensive, but it is in a niche that is relatively small. It also has many reviews. This means people already buy it.
This search can be repeated until you find the right products for your niche.
Google Keyword Tool is a great tool for keyword breakdown
The Google Keyword Planner will be used for keyword research. To get started visit the tool and create an account, if you don’t have one.
Click on “Tools” to be taken directly to the keyword research home screen. As shown below, enter your product-related keywords in the box.
Next, click ‘Get Ideas’ to navigate to the tab titled “Keyword Ideas”. This will give you an indication of how many searches each keyword receives per month.
It is not important how many keywords are searched per month. We want to ensure that there is enough volume to generate at least a few sales per month.
As you can see, we have many keywords that we can use to determine the level of competition for each product. The keywords in this market have high search volumes for the type of site they are building.
2. 2. Competition Analysis
Enter some product keywords into the Google search box. We’ll use the keyword “weber summit S-470” from our keyword research for this example.
We found a few Amazon listings and some review sites in the search results. Amazing Ribs is the first result. I was attracted to this site so I decided that I would investigate more.
Although it may seem authoritative, this site doesn’t cater to visitors. The site is full of advertisements and doesn’t provide much in the way of a reading experience.
It’s difficult to read the content, which is why it’s so long. It’s possible to create a website that reviews the product, provides a better experience and provides a higher-quality review.
Next, check the backlink profile.
This is good news. The page is linked to by four backlinks, each from the same source. This is something that you can easily do on your own.
Two things are important when analysing content.
The Ranking Content is of high quality
This is a sign that a website has poor quality content. It’s not well written and does not provide any value to the readers.
Spending more time creating content can lead to a higher quality website.
Number and relevance of backlinks
The second indicator is the backlink profile. We are looking for sites with low backlinks to non-relevant sources. It will be more difficult to rank higher if the site has too many backlinks. MajesticSEO can be used to analyze the site’s backlink profile.
Keep repeating this process for product keywords so that you have a set of products you can promote with a low competition.
How to Create an Amazon Affiliate Website With WordPress
After you have completed the keyword research and niche selection, you can start building your website. You shouldn’t skip any of the above steps.
It would be a shame to spend months building a website only to find out that it isn’t profitable. It’s all a waste of time and effort. You can find out more about the reasons I use WordPress to manage my Amazon websites.
1. Web Hosting Providers
You’ll need to pick an authoritative domain when choosing a domain name. This doesn’t limit your website’s potential. Top outdoor grill reviews may sound appealing, but it limits your writing to outdoor grills. As your site grows, you can use the ultimate backyard.com to expand your website into other niches.
This will ensure that your domain name doesn’t limit you in the future. Online success is about long-term planning.
We recommend that you purchase your domain from multiple sources. Namecheap? Hostgator Or Bluehost Many other Domain registrars.
We’ll assume that you bought your domain name from Namecheap.
After you have purchased your domain, you will need to point it at your web host. Although you will need to buy hosting before you can set it up, we have included the information below.
Navigate to Your Dashboard
NameCheap Dashboard will display all domain names that you have purchased using their service. We will edit the nameservers so that they point to your web hosting (purchased below).
To manage your domain, click the “Manage” button at the top of the domain name. This will display all relevant information about your domain. Scroll down until you see “Nameservers”.
Enter the information from your hosting provider and click ‘Add Nameserver. The result should look something like the one below.
1st Nameserver – ns3097.hostgator.com
2nd Nameserver: www.ns3098.hostgator.com
This will point your domain name towards your servers.
2. Choose a web host
Your web hosting will host all files required for your website to work. There are many options when it comes to choosing a web hosting provider. There will be some that are dedicated to sites with high traffic volumes, while others will host WordPress sites. You can find a complete breakdown of our hosting options here.
We’ll assume that you have decided to install the system.HostGator Hosting website.

Signing up for hosting will send you an email with access to cPanel and your login credentials.
This step can be skipped if your domain name is already associated with your hosting account. Continue reading if you don’t have your domain name associated with your hosting account.
Navigate to the Domains> section of your cPanel and click AddOn’ domain.
This screen will open and you can enter the domain name that you bought above. Only enter the Password and New Domain Name boxes.
To associate your domain with your hosting account, click ‘Add Domain’. After this, we can begin installing WordPress.
3. Install WordPress
Most web hosts make it easy to install WordPress onto your new website. Many web hosts offer an easy-to-follow guide that walks you through the whole process.
The instructions below are for HostGator.
Navigate to Software and Services in your cPanel and click on QuickInstall’.
Navigate to the WordPress link in the left-hand sidebar. It is located under Popular Installs. Scroll down and you will see a form similar to the one below.
Choose your domain name in the dropdown. Enter your email address, blog name, and admin username (for login purposes). Click ‘Install WordPress’.
After the process is completed, you will receive an email with login credentials to the email address that you have provided. This email will be very important as it will be required for the next steps.

This theme is a traditional blog theme, and could work well for your affiliate website.
Installing your new theme
Go to “yourdomain.com/wp_admin” to install your theme. Enter your username and password, and you will be taken to your WordPress dashboard. The dashboard will look like the image below.
Once you are inside, navigate to Appearance>Themes. Click on the Themes page and click on “Add New” then “Upload”. You can upload the themes files that you purchased. It will typically be a.zip file with the name “yourthemename.zip”.
WordPress Plugins You Must Have
Many WordPress plugins can be used to benefit your site in many ways. There are thousands of plugins available. You don’t necessarily need all of them for your site to work properly. We have highlighted our top-rated plugins, both paid and free.
Go to Plugins>Add new to install plugins. You can upload the plugin or search for plugins.

4. Pretty Link

How to create solid Amazon affiliate content

1. The In-Depth Review Post
In-depth reviews are one of the most common pieces of content that you will create to promote products. These posts should be read carefully as they serve as sales copy and will convince your visitor to visit Amazon.
This article will give your buyer all the information they need in order to make an informed purchase decision. Below are a few suggestions for ingredients that you might want to add to each post:
- Talk to them about their experiences and what pain points they are looking for.
- All product objections should be addressed
- Highlight the advantages of each product feature
- You can find information that the Amazon product description does not cover
- Mention any negative aspects of the product
- Let them know where you want to purchase the product through your affiliate link.
2. Top Quality Commercial Content
A comparison post will typically feature two or more top-selling products from your niche. You might not want to see one product win, but to demonstrate how each product works for different people.
